What is the equivalent of "Gerard" in Russian ?

name 1 of variant of old germanic name "gerhard", "Герхард" in russian.
since germanic, incl german, people have lived here centuries, not lot of names changed much, gerhard still gerhard/Герхард in russian. people can shorten gera/Гера, it's used among friends/relatives etc.

similar sounding name "georgiy" = "george" in english, of greek origin , has different meaning german(ic) "gerhard".

translating foreign names russians try stick original pronunciation as possible, if it's gerard butler, say: Джерард Батлер, if it's gerard depardieu say: Жерар Депардье.

thanks
