Are Banks to Blame (entirely) for the Housing Bubble?
no banks not blame entirely, or mostly. of blame goes on government, between tax policy , putting pressure on banks lend while permitting poor lending practices in highly regulated industry, distorted housing market create questionable demand houses. have tax policy not encourage home ownership, rather encourages maximizing mortgage debt insted. , creating fannie mae/fredddie mac model of securitizing , selling mortgages issued, banks did not have live consequences of long-term mortgage. , standing ready bail out fannie mae , freddie mac no matter mistakes made.
secondly blame goes on people buying houses couldn't afford, , stupidly thinking houses investment no matter what.
third blame other players in market, such mortgage brokers, real estate agents, , german investment funds uncritically funneling capital mortgage market.
maybe... can blame banks last. doing market , government wanted them do.
the banks giving out many loans, many people not sustain payments on long run... minorities hard hit.
banks blame entirely? individuals made poor decisions when choosing mortgage, , getting 1 not sustainable?
