What CPU to get for my computer?


such budget, no question it. fastest core 2 quad (q9x00 or q8x00) can still find somewhere.
shouldn't take more half budget.

core 2 extreme qx9650 waste of money, eventhough might fit in budget.

although, if don't plan on running programs capable of using 4 cores of core2quad, core 2 duo e8500 or e8600 , less quarter of budget.
