My home was built in 2001 and has never had a fire in the fireplace. How do i know if it's safe to use?


wont save $$ using fire place, heat go chimney,
check out eco-heaters.com
have 3 of them , heat,s cabin,
uses 400 watts of electricity, = 4- 100 light bulbs,
, puts out 169 deg heat,
1 panel heat 10 x 12 room

i'm thinking putting fire in fireplace first time since house built save on home heating costs. don't want smoke whole house , don't want catch house on fire either.
