Cancelling a hotel and reservation fee?

go site , check cancellation policy is. places, when book them have 2 or 3 day cancellation policy, meaning along cancel 2 or 3 days prior reservation, there no charge, regardless of whether or not put hold on card first night (which means can't use funds. hold comes off when either charge card [take money] or cancel reservation [refund money]). that's if plan charge ahead of time @ all. worked @ sands 9yrs , never charged until either checked out or didn't show , then, they'd nice it, on heavy days, becuz hotels overbook knowing percentage of people cancel anyway (shh trade secret lol). hope helped you. kinda babbled...

i booked hotel online , says charges first night upon reservation. however, canceled it, , says 0 dollars cancel fee. mean no reservation fee charged?
