United States to Canada?


hey everyone, i'm planning on visiting friend in toronto, canada upcoming summer. it's going first time flying out of country, wondering if give me on few questions have.
1) airline company should use flight? i'm debating on aircanada , americanairlines
2) how currency exchange work, need transfer/convert usd canadian dollars, or can bring debit card on there, , pull out canadian dollars using atm.
3) don't have passport yet, wondering need 1 canadian border?
