How to know if my TV is stolen?


okay. so, few days ago recieved tv gift friend of mine. there 1 problem. i've been friends person long time, trust them extent. they've never done me wrong. problem is, 500 dollar tv. know have no way of getting money this, swears saved money , bought me. know. fishy right? can't go police ask if it's stolen, kuz i'm afraid they'll think stole it, , it's scary. question is, there way me search numbers on box (because haven't opened yet, i've been searching on internet way search numbers find out if it's stolen) there website me go put in numbers , find out if stolen? , if i'll drop off @ police station note , done it. it's 1 of smart tv's apps can put on , internet capabitlity, , that's why i'm throwing such fit this. if it's stolen, , internet , stuff, can track , i'll in trouble cause of friend's f***up.....
